COVID-19 has exposed some very polarizing topics in our society; vaccinations, mask mandates, restrictions on activities, just to name a few. The anxiety and tension surrounding these issues have and continue to take a toll on our bodies. The compounding stress can manifest itself not just in bad moods or sleeplessness, but also in clinic conditions like TMJ, migraines, and constipation. Thankfully massage therapy can help with those conditions and many others.
AB Go Massage Therapy is committed to helping those who are looking for therapeutic bodywork as a part of their journey towards a more integrated sense of wellness. To better accomplish this mission, the following safety protocols have been put in place with everyone's safety in mind.
The LMT will wear a face covering that completely covers the nose and mouth during the session.
If the Client is vaccinated then wearing a mask is optional. Proof of vaccination is required.
If the Client is unvaccinated then the Client must wear a mask for the entirety of the session.
Acceptable face coverings include but are not limited to cloth (e.g. homemade sewn, quick cut, bandana), surgical masks, N95 respirators, and face shields.
During the check-in process, if deemed necessary by the LMT, a sanitized infrared forehead thermometer will be used to test your body temperature. As is the industry standard, any individual experiencing a temperature over 100.4 will be asked to reschedule. There will be no fee associated with this kind of reschedule.
“By Appointment Only” scheduling allows for no more than two people in the massage space at a time - the client and the Licensed Massage Therapist (or LMT). This also ensures ample time for the proper cleaning and disinfection procedures between clients.
AB Go Massage Therapy adheres to the hygiene, cleaning, and disinfection requirements from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Department of Health (DOH) and maintains logs on-site that document date, time, and scope of cleaning and disinfection.
The massage room, table, bolsters, and any tools used in the session are cleaned and disinfected prior to and after each session. When possible a HEPA filter and UV equipped air purifier will be run and then the room will be properly ventilated. All linens are changed between clients, laundered appropriately and stored in appropriate containers between uses.
The Client Intake form and Checking process have been updated to include COVID-19 specific questions and consent agreements. These questions are intended to keep everyone safe and healthy. If the LMT has any reason to suspect that the client is not completely healthy, the session will be postponed and rescheduled at no additional charge.
COVID-19 specific questions include, but are not limited to:
If the client or LMT tests positive for a current infection with COVID-19, then the following actions will be taken:
• The AB Go Massage Therapy complies with contact tracing efforts, working with the Department of Health and other entities as needed.
• The LMT who worked with the infected client gets tested for the virus (if possible) and must go into self-quarantine for 14 days following close contact with that client.
• All other clients of the LMT who have had close contact with the LMT in the meantime must be notified that they may have been exposed. Public health statements recommend that the potentially exposed clients also go into self-quarantine for 14 days after their exposure.
• All existing appointments scheduled after the date of the exposure will be rescheduled or may be canceled free of any penalties.
